My career spans almost 30 years in various roles and seniority, and what a career it has been with so much knowledge and experience gained. Leading teams, working local, nationally and globally, driving business change and driving a diversity, and inclusion agenda before it became as popular as it now.
My biggest reward however has been resilience, the ability to adapt, navigate internal politics, lead with heart and a business head, all while remaining true to myself.
My career path has not been easy, I have been overlooked, talked over, excluded, bullied, told I'm not talent as I didn’t “fit” the norm, lacked kudos and gravitas, forced into boxes others had created for me, assumptions made me, given labels which have restricted the skills and expertise I have- all challenges I have not only overcome but learned from, added to my personal growth and kit bag called experience.
What lessons did I learn?
I don't need fixing. What is needed is for organisations to dismantle the systems in place which caused this, the policies, processes, procedures, behaviours etc. What is needed is for individuals at all levels of seniority and career stages to be equipped, enabled an empowered to work in and lead diverse teams and organisations.What is needed is the right environment where everyone can thrive and excel.
This is why Archangelica™ was born.
